Labor Day / End of Summer

For me Labor day signals the end of summer and back to work. But what really is Labor Day? I checked it out on the internet and this is what I found -- " Labor Day, the first Monday in September, is a creation of the labor movement and is dedicated to the social and economic achievements of American workers. It constitutes a yearly national tribute to the contributions workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of our country. The first Labor Day holiday was celebrated on Tuesday, September 5, 1882, in New York City, in accordance with the plans of the Central Labor Union. The Central Labor Union held its second Labor Day holiday just a year later, on September 5, 1883. In 1884 the first Monday in September was selected as the holiday, as originally proposed, and the Central Labor Union urged similar organizations in other cities to follow the example of New York and celebrate a "workingmen's holiday" on that date. The idea spread with the growth of labor organizations, and in 1885 Labor Day was celebrated in many industrial centers of the country." There's what I learned.

For us we celebrated with Michelle, Jeremy, Margaret, Jerimy, Oliver, Emelia and Jon at the trailer with a BBQ. Jon's parents joined us at the camper for dinner and S'mores. It was time to enjoy with the girls and their husbands and Oliver, our grandson. It is always fun to have Eme and Jon back from Chicago for a weekend and we look forward to having them home in Minnesota for good at the end of September. The rest of the time was for relaxing and enjoying being out of doors for one more day.

I had a chance to go with Michelle to meet her best friend's fiance. What fun to see Jenny happy and looking forward to her own wedding.

Congratulations Jenny and Jared. (Jenny, your mom and I will be talking.)
